In this composition, the delicate face emerges veiled in light, milky tones that soften its contours. Around it, drips and swathes of vivid colour are arranged with a more controlled hand: intense reds, deep blues, pinks and touches of green alternate across surfaces that are by turns glossy and matt, typical of the water-and-turpentine enamel technique. The patches seem to follow an internal, more restrained rhythm that dialogues with the figure’s tranquillity. Taken as a whole, the piece conveys a sense of balance and transformation, in which the softness of the face harmonises with an elegant and composed colour palette.
