‘Untitled’ (2015) by Max Gasparini is a mixed media work on sheet metal that presents a female figure in a moment of great vulnerability and introspection. The ethereal beauty of the woman is rendered through the use of shades of grey and white, with a sharp contrast between the figure and the dark background. The sheet metal, as an industrial material, creates a visual tension that accentuates the delicacy of the human body, while the pictorial treatment of the faces and hands emphasises the feeling of detachment and reflection. Gasparini uses the medium in an innovative way, exploring the idea of fusion between human and material.
