In ‘La Leggerezza dell'Anima’ (The Lightness of the Soul), Casetti evokes the idea of a soul that rises, freeing itself from all gravity. The face, executed in soft, muted colours, seems to float between the impalpable effect created by pastel colours such as pale pink and light yellow. The artist uses water-based enamels to accentuate the fluidity of the composition, while denser drops of turpentine-based enamel add luminosity and thickness. The contrast between the soft and shiny surfaces creates an interplay of textures that amplifies the effect of lightness and suspension, bringing out a feeling of serene contemplation.
